Research On Michel Rajkovi

Michel Rajkovi:
The main reason I have chosen to do extended research on Michel Rajkovic is because he employs a technique of shooting in which I want to try out for either a shoot or for my exam shoot. His style of work in which he uses a longer shutter speed so he can make it almost seem like the water he is photographing is either still or in some of his photos it seems like there is a flow of clouds on a lake or the large body of water. Another interesting technique which Michel Rajkovic employs is he turns lots of his photos into black and white. This allows for the large body of water to be seen as easier as a still mass of water or as a flow of clouds on a mountain like in some of his photos.

In this image we see a man standing in a lake in which their whole body is silhouetted in the centre of the image allowing for the image to stay with the style of simple black and white. The interesting thing about this image is the person in the image and the long exposure which has allowed for the sea to look very calm.

Here we see another black and white image that has a long exposure allowing for the impact of the waterfall to be reduced and also for the lake to also be completely still and frozen. It makes a very interesting photo because there is very little spray due to the longer exposure.

The interesting thing about this image is the mist that has been created from the long exposure it covers over the walk way and makes it seem like a walkway into the middle of the ocean.
Here we see a rather surreal image of a pier in the ocean. The interesting thing about this image is that the pier seems like it is on a bed of clouds. This would have been achieved by using a longer shutter sped to allow the waves to over lap each other and cause it to become one seamless cloud like sea with the pier atop it.
This photographer has influenced me to try and take photos of large bodies of water which I will take with a very long exposure which allows for the same affect as the above photos. Lots of his photos are also in black and white which adds to the mystic of his photos. The overall feelings that people get from these photos takes the form of the dystopian feeling where the world is empty and is left in piece. This has influenced me to try and experiment with long exposure and black and white on large bodies of water.

To summarise Michel Rajkovic style of photography is very simple and eye opening. By only changing a few settings and finding a fairly plain environment he can create rather surreal images which envelops the viewer into this quite, abandoned world he has created.
