Connecting Essay 5

Reference Image:
In this image the ink looks rather abstract a also at least in my opinion it looks like a heart. I especially like the way the two different colours of ink interact with each other making the purple colour.
My Image:
The viscosity of the two inks in my image is different to each other in the fact that one is thick making the ink staying in clumps of ink and the other is not thick which means it can easily interact with the water allowing for this rather abstract image much like a piece of art.
The Connection:
The main connection between the two images is that they are both of ink and the way they interact within some water allowing for both of them to look rather abstract and also look like actual pieces of art created from an art exhibit.

Connecting Essay 4

Reference Image:
Here we see a black and white image of a window in a high rise apartment showing the city bellow. The image itself is rather bleak creating this dark urban city bellow allowing for the feeling of emptiness and sorrow. We also get this sense of foreboding from this image allowing for a rather depressing feeling.
My Image:
In this image of mine we see that I have taken a close-up photo of a glass screen with droplets on it. This allows for the very close-up pictures of water droplets allowing for this interesting photo to come about.
The Connection:
The main connection between the two images is that they are both of glass screens with droplets of water along them. The top one is due to having been rained upon creating the drops on the glass screen. One of the main differences between the two images is that the top is of a landscape and mine is of a close-up.

Connecting Essay 3

Reference Image:
Here in this reference image we see a puddle with a rather crisp and clear reflection within it. The interesting thing about this image is that within the image everything else is blurred with only the puddle being in focus due to the shallow depth of field within the image, meaning that all the attention of the viewer is brought to the centre of the image. This gives us an element of framing by making the dirt around the puddle the frame for the puddle at the centre of the image. I would say that the f/stop of the image would be between 2.8-5.6.

My Image:
For my image we see that there is a higher contrast between different element within the image. The reflection within my image is also upright and not inverted like the above image. We have framing with in my image but not the same type as the above. In mine we have a line though the middle of the image allowing for the framing of the centre of the image to be upwards across the entire image and have the frames of dirt on either side of the middle.
The Connection:
The main connection between the two images are that they are of a reflection in a very small puddle. The other connection between the two images is that they are both puddles in a forest and show reflections of trees one inverted and the other not. We also have framing in two different forms in the images.

Connecting Essay 2

Reference Image:
For my reference image I have taken an image of a jellyfish because one of my images I took  looked a lot like a jellyfish. The image bellow shows lots of different jellyfish all swimming around. The shape and the general feel of the image actually create the feeling of jelly in your hand just by looking at the image.

My Image:
My image was from dropping a lemon into water. I then flipped the image and repeated the image five times and then putting them at different sizes though out the image. We can see the shape of the top of the Jellyfish the top round part and also the tentacles coming out from the bottom of them giving it the appliance of a jellyfish.
The Connection:
The main connection between both of the images is that they both look like Jellyfish with the top round part and the tentacles sat the bottom of them. They are also both bright objects on a very dark background. My image is light due to the reflections from the flash but the reason you can see the jellyfish is because they are luminous.

Connecting Essay 1

Reference Image:
In my reference image we see that I have got an image of a flower peacefully floating down a river. We set that this seems to be a typical type of tranquil image. In this image we also see small drops of water on the flower and the centre of the flower has become flooded allowing for the petals to rest on the surface of the water.

My Image:
In my image we see that I have a flower floating very tranquilly in a tank of water allowing for a rather surreal feeling in the image. The main thing I like about this image is that the flower is very crisp and you can't tell that the flower is in water, it looks more like it is just floating there in the air.
My Connection:
The main connection between the two images is that they are both of flowers with some elements of water. Both of them are also very tranquil and rather surreal and create the same type of calm atmosphere when you view them allowing for the viewer to feel very calm while viewing the image.
